Cretan Renaissance – Boutique Hotel

The Cretan Renaissance Boutique Hotel stands for quality and smartly tailored luxury, style and select journeys, alert mind and watchful eye, boldness and curiosity about the little known. The Cretan Renaissance Boutique Hotel is housed in a Venetian mansion of an architectural style in alignment with that period. The interaction of two cultures – the
Helleno-Byzantine and the Western Roman cultures – gave birth to the Cretan Renaissance, a very important time for Crete, during which literature, painting and many other art forms thrived. The building was originally the residence of a Venetian family of musicians, later became an administrative headquarters, and devolved on a Cretan lord before the end of the Venetian Domination. Historical records mention the abduction of a lord’s daughter by a poor young man, and the father hunting down the couple. A story that has much in common with the literary works produced at the time. Based on the above, each of the four hotel rooms
recaptures a love story from the significant literary works of that period that were saved over the centuries. The rooms bear the names of Erophile, Arethusa, Panoria and Dolceta,
all heroines of the Cretan literature that, through the allegorical symbolization of their love, lend the rooms a characteristic style that the visitors can enjoy during their stay.
